Background Joanne is a dually qualified Dental Hygiene-Therapist with over 20 years’ experience in the dental field. During her career Joanne has worked in various clinics throughout the UK and has undertaken courses in dental bleaching and inhalation sedation. In 2007, Joanne took up a tutoring role at Kings College in London where her interest in education began. In 2009, Joanne was appointed as Lecturer in Oral Health Sciences at the University of Edinburgh and was awarded an MSc in Clinical Education from the University in 2013. Alongside her lecturing duties Joanne also continues to treat patients within the Edinburgh Dental Institute. Joanne is delighted to be appointed as Programme Director for the BSc (Hons) Oral Health Sciences programme and Senior Lecturer for Dental Care Professionals. Research interests Joanne has a keen interest in clinical education and adult periodontology. In 2014, she was involved in setting up a theoretical and practical programme focused on prevention, scaling and polishing for students from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
