Liz is a Lecturer for the BSc(Hons) Oral Health Science degree progamme and is the year 1 course oganiser.  She is also a Personal Tutor for the course.

Background

Liz has had a varied career, leaving school to become a Dental Surgery Assistant, then moving onto a Customer Services role in London, going onto a managerial customer services role within Essex Libraires, and finally  moving to Scotland she completed her Oral Health Science degree at the University of Dundee and was awarded the best clinical student of 2008.

She has worked as a Dental Therapist in private and NHS practices, Fife Community Dental Service and at Dundee Dental Hospital where she also lectured and supervised on the BSc Oral Health Science degree course before she came to Edinburgh.  Liz was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practrice by University of Edinburgh in 2019. 

Awards and memberships

Liz won the Wrigleys Student Research competition with a project called “How Dietary Advice Impacts on Systemic Health” and presented her research at the British Dental Associations Annual Conference.

Liz has been nominated for EUSA Teaching Awards best personal tutor in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

She holds membership of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy .
