Course content

Learning objectives and structure.

The course is broken down into the following weekly commitment:

  • 60% supervised clinical and laboratory management of patient care
  • 25% theory and seminar based work
  • 15% research

The following modules make up theory components covered during the first two years:

  • Introductory course in Endodontology
  • Dissertation (including a year 1 literature review)
  • Assessment, diagnosis & treatment planning]
  • Critical appraisal and scientific academic writing
  • Rationale for Management of Pulpal and Periradicular Disease and management of post-treatment Disease
  • Dental Materials Science
  • Surgical management of endodontic disease
  • Interdisciplinary care

The following modules are the covered during DClinDent training and are focused towards sitting MEndo examination (RCSEd) or the MRD (RCSEng):

  • Specialist-Level Clinical Care
  • Clinical Governance
  • Systemic Review
  • Specialist-Level Clinical Case Reports
