Programme Director Orthodontics Consultant Orthodontist /Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer Dr Niall McGuinness (PhD, DDS, MScD, BA, BDS, FDS(Orth) RCPS Glasg, MOrth RCSEdin) Programme Director Edinburgh Dental Institute Deanery of Clinical Sciences College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Dr. McGuinness is head of the academic programme for the MClinDent / DClinDent programme in orthodontics at the Edinburgh Dental Institute. He has published extensively in the orthodontic literature and is referee for a number of peer-reviewed orthodontic journals. Background Dr. McGuinness is the lead for the academic programme for the DClinDent programme in orthodontics at the Edinburgh Dental Institute. He graduated BDentSc from Trinity College Dublin in 1980 and completed his specialist training in orthodontics at the University of Wales Dental School, Cardiff. He was awarded a DDS from Edinburgh University in 2005 and a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast in 2006. He is an examiner for the Membership in Orthodontics in the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Fellowship examination of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
